Hafner zu Wanzbach Organic farming and farm bakery

The organic-certified “Hafner zu Wanzbach” farm in Inzersdorf, Upper Austria: here 38-year old Andreas Hoffmann cultivates roughly 20 hectares of arable land with the help of a few employees. The grain obtained – organic wheat and organic spelt – is processed in the farm’s own mill and bakery and then marketed directly at farmers’ markets. A manageable pig fattening process has also been established for various waste and feed grains from the crop rotation, and 50 to 70 goats are reared annually.

» Because I’m a farmer and not a professional metalworker or welder, I benefit greatly from the process characteristics of the TransSteel Pulse, which provide ideal support. They enable us – even with little practice – to achieve highly professional results. «

Andreas Hoffmann, farmer

Challenge

Due to the size of Hafner zu Wanzbach, Hoffmann and his team have to do much of the work on the farm themselves: “This includes all repairs and modifications on agricultural vehicles and equipment so that we can adapt to individual conditions out on the land or processing activities.” For example, a front packer roller for tillage had to be modified and the working width adapted to match the other agricultural machines. Hoffmann also no longer liked the way it worked.

“In addition to the large sheet thicknesses of up to 30 millimeters, we also faced a particular challenge with material thicknesses of predominantly four to five millimeters. We are entering the intermediate arc range here, where a lot of welding spatter usually occurs. This would take a lot of time and effort to remove afterwards,” explains trained machine fitter Thomas Nussko, who supports Hoffmann with all repairs and modifications.

Solution

“With our 20-year old Fronius VarioStar, we would have reached our limits here,” continues Hoffmann. Sound performance and excellent process characteristics were the main reasons why the two men finally opted for the TransSteel 3000 C PULSE: “With the pulse function we save ourselves this work and outstanding weld seams are produced,” says fitter Thomas Nussko.
