Merco increases efficiency with Fronius chargers

Within the group, Merco has a distribution center in Nuevo León called Operadora Merco where grocery and refrigeration products are stored and distributed. To make distribution more efficient, the supermarket chain aimed to speed up the charging process of its forklift batteries during work shifts, while ensuring a longer battery life.

A few years ago, the Fronius Perfect Charging team Mexico presented Merco a more efficient, sustainable and more appropriate charging solution that would help the supermarket to increase the efficiency of its intralogistics. The supermarket chain was offered the possibility to use a demo charger for two months to directly see the benefits of the technology in their distribution center. Besides that, they were also offered a free energy analysis at the end of the demo. After the two-months, the Fronius Perfect Charging team conducted the analysis and identified a savings potential of 56% compared to 60Hz technology.

To improve its positioning on the market and increase the efficiency in intralogistics, Operadora Merco decided to replace its 60 Hz chargers with 13 Fronius Selectiva chargers. The decisive factors for the change were the quality, efficiency, and innovation of the Fronius technology, as well as the benefits of the unique Ri charging process, energy savings and reduced maintenance costs.

Operadora Merco plans to continue working with Fronius in the future, and to equip its other distribution centers and charging rooms with Fronius Selectiva chargers.
